At the beginning of the 19th century, a John Rotheram was writing about medical matters, producing the Notes for Cullen's First Lines of the Practice of Physic with Practical and Explanatory Notes, (New York, Evert Duyckink, 1801).

Perhaps he was the same John Rotheram who wrote The Edinburgh New Dispensary, also published in 1801, but by M. Lavoisier, Edinburgh. Apparently, the latter publication contained 'the elements of pharmaceutical chemistry'.
